Allan should have a flag next to his name.  He was drafted into the Marines and went through basic training twice to qualify.  He saw duty in Vietnam and died from brain cancer which was, we believe, a result of exposure to agent orange.  He and his wife Kathy visited us in Florida not long before he died.  One of the items on his bucket list was a day cruise on one of the gambling boats which we did. Alan was a good friend and was best man in my wedding.

I remember Jan. 10, 1966. There were a few guys from LCHS that took the bus from in front of the 1st National Bank building in Mt. Clemens to Fort Wayne to be inducted into military service. They lined us up and had us count off one through eight. The eighth guy being inducted into the Marines. The word spread that Al had been one of the eights. We all served. Those of us that got to come home owe so much to those like Alan that paid the ultimate sacrifice.
